On Saturday, October 26th, members of the PAM Transport team in Tontitown had an incredible opportunity to join the Northwest Arkansas community in Susan G. Komen’s More than Pink Walk. Our participation in this walk followed weeks of fundraising to raise awareness for the Komen Foundation. PAM partnered with local t-shirt vendor Houndstooth Press to sell “Haulin’ for Hope” t-shirts, with proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen to fund research, screenings, diagnostics, and treatments. These efforts reflect our team’s commitment to the mission to end breast cancer.

Susan G. Komen More than Pink Walk
The Susan G. Komen Foundation has held the More than Pink Walk in locations nationwide since 2018. The walk allows survivors and supporters to learn about initiatives and programs in the fight against breast cancer. The Northwest Arkansas Walk of 2024 occurred at Crystal Bridges in Bentonville, Arkansas. Throughout the morning, attendees met sponsors, visited the “We Remember” tent, and came together on a walk for awareness. A meet-up and parade were also held before the walk to honor survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer. This annual event helps foster a sense of community among survivors and supporters, and we were honored to participate this year.

Lacing Up Our Shoes
To explore the deeper impact of the Komen Foundation, we sat down with two PAM team members, Amy F. and Kammy A., who attended this year’s walk. Both women have personal experiences with the cause and were eager to help make a difference.
For Kammy, Team Lead in Logs, the Susan G. Komen Foundation hits close to home. As a survivor herself, she wanted to participate in the More than Pink Walk to support those who had stood by her during her own fight. She deeply enjoyed the inclusive environment at Crystal Bridges that morning, and she loved joining the community and lending a helping hand.
Amy, Log Supervisor, attended the walk in support of two survivors in her life: her colleague, Kammy, and her mother. This is an incredibly impactful cause, and she voiced her appreciation for the Komen Foundation and walk. “It is awesome seeing everybody come together to support such a real topic that affects so many people,” said Amy. She finds the walk to be an emotional experience; meeting survivors and fighters with such remarkable stories is extremely moving. As for PAM’s involvement in the cause, Amy shared her pride in the company’s participation and support. “I think it’s awesome that PAM supports this cause, especially since it is close to my heart,” said Amy.
